Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask before their first visit. Don’t see your question? Call us or email frontdesk@sauna-culture.com.
- Where are you located?
- Sauna Culture is at 274 S Sharon Amity Rd Unit 1, Charlotte, NC 28211 — in the Cotswold neighborhood of Charlotte. Free parking out front.
- What are your hours?
- Monday–Tuesday 8:30am–8pm, Wednesday 7am–8pm, Thursday 8:30am–8pm, Friday 7am–8pm, Saturday–Sunday 8:30am–6pm.
- Do you have infrared saunas?
- No. We're a traditional Finnish-style sauna — wood-and-stone, dry heat, real steam from water on hot stones. That's a deliberate positioning choice, not a limitation.
- Are the cold plunges shared?
- No. We have individual cold plunges at three different temperatures (beginner, intermediate, advanced) — never a shared communal tub. The cold plunge is included with every visit.
- How long is a session?
- Sessions are 90 minutes. We recommend 3–5 rounds of sauna and cold plunge across that window for the full effect.
- How hot is the sauna?
- 180–200°F, the traditional Finnish range. You adjust humidity yourself by pouring water on the stones — that's löyly, and it's the whole point.
- How cold are the plunges?
- Beginner sits around 55°F, intermediate around 50°F, advanced around 45°F. Pick the dose that fits your day.
- What do I wear?
- A swimsuit. Our shared spaces are co-ed and bathing-suit-required. Private suites are yours to use as you like.
- What should I bring?
- Swimsuit, water bottle, and yourself. We provide towels. Glasses-wearers tend to prefer contacts in the heat.
- Do I need a reservation?
- Recommended, especially weekends. Walk-ins welcome when capacity allows. We keep a waitlist that will text you when a seat opens — usually within an hour during weekdays.
- Can I cancel a booking?
- Cancel more than 24 hours out for a full refund. Within 24 hours, we'll move the booking to credit on your account.
- Can I freeze my membership?
- Yes. Pause anytime for any reason — travel, injury, schedule change. No re-enrollment fee to restart.
- Is there a contract?
- No. Memberships are month-to-month. Cancel anytime.
- How often should I come?
- Two sessions a week is a strong starting cadence for most people. The research suggests benefits continue scaling up to about four times weekly.
- Can I bring a group?
- Yes. Small groups fit in the shared sauna. For up to four guests with full privacy, book the private suite.
- Is this co-ed?
- Yes — our shared spaces are co-ed and bathing-suit-required. Private suites are private to your party.
- What's the etiquette in the sauna?
- Voices low. Phones in the locker. Sit on a towel. Ask the room before pouring water on the stones. Standard public-sauna manners.
